GITEGA, February 14th (ABP) – The Prime Minister of Burundi, Mr. Gervais Ndirakobuca, held, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in Gitega (the political capital), a strategic meeting with all stakeholders in the agricultural sector to assess the growing season A, “Agatasi” and to prepare the growing season B “Impeshi”.
After the meeting which took place behind closed doors, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister, Mr. Moïse Nkurunziza revealed that during the meeting it was noted that the harvest expected for season A is very good despite shortcomings noted in some localities of the country which have experienced low rainfall.
Regarding the growing season B, all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure its success, hence the availability of fertilizers, especially Imbura, as well as selected seeds of beans adapted to climatic conditions, which offers farmers a solid basis for success.

According to the Prime Minister’s spokesperson, special attention was paid during the meeting to the introduction of a new variety of fertilizer “Otesha”, which has potential comparable to that of Imbura.
He noted that initial analyses show that Otesha could not only strengthen soil fertility, but also improve the absorption of nutrients by plants, which would result in a significant increase in yields.
This innovation, combined with a series of ongoing strategic measures, illustrates the Burundian government’s desire to modernize the agricultural sector and prepare it effectively for future damage, particularly those related to climate variations.
Prime Minister Ndirakobuca called on administrative authorities at all levels to raise awareness among the population to avoid unnecessary concerns about this novelty.
