GITEGA/BUHUMUZA/BURUNGA, May 28 (ABP) – The party of the eagle CNDD-FDD continued, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, its journey by campaigning across the country, ahead of the dual legislative and communal elections scheduled for June 5, 2025.

In the extended province of Gitega, in the newly extended commune of Karusi, in the presence of the party’s secretary-general, CNDD-FDD members met respectively in Bugenyuzi and Gihogazi at a large rally.

Before presenting the CNDD-FDD party’s social project, the provincial secretary Georges Nshimirimana congratulated the Bagumyabanga of the Karusi commune for responding in large numbers and introduced the candidates for communal and legislative elections.

The party’s secretary-general, Reverien Ndikuriyo, confident of the expected results in Karusi and elsewhere, outlined the main points of the party’s program for the next term.

Maintaining peace and security, strengthening the sectors of good governance, health, and education were mentioned. Environmental protection, avocado cultivation as an industrial crop, as well as intensive construction of development infrastructure, is part of the CNDD-FDD party’s society project.

At the election rally for the legislative and communal elections in Bugenyuzi, Ndikuriyo announced that the population has really embraced the party’s ideology to the extent that he did not have much to say in terms of propaganda. He thanked the people of Karusi for their electoral behavior in favor of his party during previous elections and indicated that he expects similar results in the upcoming elections. He called for caution because, he said, the country’s enemies, especially those of the party, are watching. “I will not reveal the entire social project of the party, but it is worth giving the essentials,” Ndikuriyo preferred.

Still in the extended Gitega province, after his visit to Karusi, the secretary-general of the ruling party went to the extended commune of Gitega where he joined the Bagumyabanga of the Nyamugari zone, in the urban center of Gitega, a check on site by ABP revealed.

This was an opportunity for the provincial secretary of the said party, Georges Nshimirimana, to welcome about fifty new members leaving the CNL and UPRONA parties; to present the parliamentary candidates and those of the Gitega communal council as well as the social projects that the party has emphasized in this campaign.

Taking the floor, the CNDD-FDD party secretary-general reminded the Bagumyabanga that the party belongs to them. He asked them to vote massively to reach a score of 99%, committing in return to defend their interests. He specified that the youth of the communes of Burundi will be called to undergo military training to form reserve units, to contribute to the defense of the homeland if needed. He noted that the party intends to strengthen justice for all by supporting the local notables “Abahuza” who are responsible for resolving local conflicts including land disputes. He also highlighted that the party will promote responsible governance, respect for human rights, and fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds. Ndikuriyo finally congratulated the Bagumyabanga of the Nyamugari zone for their strong participation in this campaign compared to previous years. He promised that the party will pave the streets of the urban center of Gitega, once this zone votes CNDD-FDD with 90% of the votes in the next elections.

In the extended province of Buhumuza, the newly extended Ruyigi commune resonated with the rhythm of the electoral campaign led by the CNDD-FDD. On the villages of Ngarama and rural Ruyigi, encompassing all the villages of the Ruyigi and Rusengo zones, Cyriaque Nshimirimana, deputy secretary-general of the ruling party, joined the Bagumyabanga to rally the militants and deliver a strong message: “The development of Burundi depends on unity behind the CNDD-FDD.”

Facing a crowd composed of militants, members of communal councils, and bahumure (veterans), the number two of the eagle party gave a glowing review of the government’s work. “Every Burundian should be happy with the progress already made in developing all sectors of the country’s life,” he declared. He added, “Voting for CNDD-FDD means choosing to live in peace and tranquility.”
More than just a call to vote, his message aimed to unite, while being firm. He extended a hand to sympathizers of other political parties, urging them to “join those working for the common good.” He issued a warning to anyone who tempted to disrupt the pre-election period: “The Bagumyabanga will show neither mercy nor tolerance toward those who threaten peace and democracy.”
Nshimirimana reminded that CNDD-FDD is not the property of a clan, but “a council of an entire nation, founded to defend democracy and republican values.” Implicitly, he conveyed the idea of a party that is the engine of national cohesion, but also a bulwark against any attempt at division. During this rally, new members joined the CNDD-FDD party.

In Ruyigi, the message was clear: the eagle party intends to continue its mobilization until the upcoming elections, to advance development and realize the vision of an emerging Burundi in 2040 and a developed one by 2060.
In the extended province of Burunga, on the same day, the CNDD-FDD provincial secretary in Burunga, Sylvain Nzikoruriho, joined the Bagumyabanga of the Makamba zone and extended commune on an election campaign. Nzikoruriho first reminded the population of the progress Burundi has made in development since the CNDD-FDD came into power, citing for example free healthcare for certain people groups and subsidies for chemical fertilizers. He therefore asked the people of Makamba to vote for CNDD-FDD to accelerate the development projects already underway.

The national secretary in charge of sports and sociocultural affairs within the CNDD-FDD, Calinie Mbarushimana, who also took part in this rally, asked the people of Makamba to vote for CNDD-FDD to show their satisfaction with the government’s achievements since 2005.
