CANKUZO, September 24th (ABP) – “Without dialogue, conflict breaks out in society,” Muyinga Catholic diocese and chairperson of the interfaith council in Burundi (CICB), Bishop Joachim Ntahondereye revealed on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Cankuzo, during the celebration of the World Day of Peace organized at the level of the new Buhumuza province, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
He indicated, during those ceremonies, that the lack of time for in-depth dialogue is the source of presumptions in society. This situation gives rise to conflicts of interest especially between political parties and within a single party just before and after elections, he explained. It is for that reason that dialogues were organized during the week dedicated to peace in order to awaken the spirit of dialogue among the various leaders in order to promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts but also to consolidate society, he stressed.
Pelouse Nduwimana having represented the young people affiliated to the ruling party, CNDD-FDD in that province said that this day was a great opportunity for them while specifying that different lessons provided will help them avoid conflicts as young people affiliated to the different political parties during the next elections.
For his part, Gabin Bukuru, head of the youth of the CNL party, those messages will contribute to strengthening efforts in the framework of peace consolidation in society.
Note that the ceremonies of the day were attended by administrative officials, political parties, religious denominations, etc. They began with a peaceful march and were accompanied by songs of peace as well as a football match between the Tourbillon FC team and that of Cankuzo United which ended in a one-goal draw (1-1).
