BUJUMBURA, October 4th (ABP) – Burundi Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca received in audience on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in his office, Ms. Entela Sula, head of the partnership development department at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for Central Africa, composed of 15 countries including Burundi, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
At the end of the audience, Ms. Sula told the press that they discussed the aspects of collaboration between UNOPS and the government of Burundi taking into account the latter’s expertise and its facilitation process.
Concretely, she said, UNOPS wants to support the Burundian government in moving forward with development goals. Regarding the areas of intervention, Ms. Sula pointed out the infrastructure but also the management of projects.
According to the spokesperson for the Prime Minister, Mr. Moïse Nkurunziza, the Prime Minister focused during their discussions with Ms. Sula, on the national vision of an emerging country by 2040 and developed country in 2060. He pointed out to her that to achieve its goals, Burundi needs financial partners.
Regarding the implementation of development projects, he indicated that the country was ranked second in Africa as a country that has successfully implemented projects supported by the World Bank.
