BUJUMBURA, May 28 (ABP) – The chairperson of the National Congress for Liberty (CNL) party, Nestor Girukwishaka, held a press conference on Thursday, May 22, 2025, to present the society projects that the party intends to implement if its candidates are elected in the legislative elections scheduled for June 5, 2025.
In the field of education, the CNL party plans to increase the number of boarding schools and improve students’ living conditions. The party promises to restore quality education by providing schools with textbooks, computers, and research materials to facilitate academic tasks, and to raise civil servants’ salaries.
Regarding the agriculture and livestock sector, Mr. Girukwishaka stated that the CNL plans to support farmers and livestock breeders by implementing training programs tailored to the country’s needs, promoting new crops, and ensuring the availability of selected seeds.
In the area of justice, the CNL party aims to strengthen the judicial system to ensure fair and unbiased justice for all.
Mr. Girukwishaka added that other priorities include appointing competent individuals to public administration based on merit and competitive exams, and ensuring transparency in the awarding of public contracts by adhering to all required standards.
In the economic sector, he announced that the CNL party will intensify the fight against corruption and other forms of malpractice to ensure effective public service. The party will closely monitor the industrial sector to promote exports and encourage foreign investment. The CNL also pledges to support the diaspora so it can actively contribute to the country’s development.
In the field of health, Mr. Girukwishaka stated that the CNL party intends to improve the sector so that no one is deprived of medical care or medication.
Finally, the CNL party plans to enhance local pharmaceutical production and ensure its distribution across the entire country.
