NGOZI, March 17th (ABP) – The Governor of Ngozi Province, Léonidas Ndaruzaniye, accompanied by the provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in Butanyerera, called on Gashikanwa residents to unity despite their political differences. He made the appeal on Thursday, March 13, 2025, during a meeting he held with the administrative staff of Gashikanwa commune. The meeting was part of his first visits to all the communes since his appointment as governor of the province.
In his speech, he first discussed his main mission during his term of office, which is focused on unity among the residents of Ngozi and the preservation of peace and security. As elections draw near, he reassured residents while urging them to turn a deaf ear to rumors circulating on social media according to which the war in the DRC could affect Burundi. He asked them to remain calm while going about their daily activities, and to focus on increasing yields.
Taking the floor, Théophile Nibizi, the communal administrator of Gashikanwa, discussed some of the major obstacles that plague the development of the commune. He cited, among others, the impassability of roads connecting the commune with neighboring communes, the delay in farmers’ agricultural inputs, some schools facing a lack of benches, the shortage of Brarudi beverages, and farmers’ complaints about the sale of their maize harvest from the past season, to name but a few.
Governor Ndaruzaniye reassured them while underscoring that ANAGESSA would purchase the harvest. He also promised to support the projects currently underway in Gashikanwa.
The provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in the new Butanyerera province, who accompanied the governor, urged the people of Gashikanwa to prepare well for the upcoming elections and encouraged them to continue farming while redoubling their efforts to revitalize the coffee, and avocado which has just been certified as an export crop.
