BUJUMBURA, November 18th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, honored with his presence on Thursday, November 14, 2024, the prayer marking the opening ceremonies of the week dedicated to the fighters of the ruling party, at the national political office of the said party.

Those ceremonies were organized under the theme ʺUrugamba rw’amasasu rwararangiye, urugamba rw’iterambere rurabandanya, abarurwanye duhaguruke duhangane narwo twishimikije imbonokazoza 2040-2060ʺ (The armed fight is over, the for development goes on: withstand against it on the basis of the national vision 2040-2060), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In his speech, the Head of State first asked the people of Burundi to safeguard peace and democracy that were difficult to regain. He reminded them that peace is the fruit of the sacrifice of the fighters; hence it is time to exploit the goods of peace, to join cooperatives in order to improve production.

According to him, the only enemy that remains for the Burundian population is hunger and poverty, from which he asked them to go about development activities. He added that all the fighters who lost their lives during the struggle sacrificed themselves for democracy. The CNDD-FDD party came as an answer to a multitude of questions from the people of Burundi, he said. Based on this year’s theme, he called on the Wise of the ruling party to safeguard the hard-to-find peace by teaming up in associations or cooperatives in order to achieve the vision of Burundi as an emerging country by 2040 and as a developed country in 2060 because, he declared, “we are in the fight to bring Burundi into sustainable development.”

For his part, the Deputy Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Cyriaque Nshimirimana, pointed out that this year’s event comes when the ruling party will build 100 clean houses for former fighters to help them live peacefully.

On this, he thanked the young activists (Imbonerakure) who made bricks that will be used for this good deed.
