MURAMVYA, November 22nd (ABP) – While the bearers of the 2024 edition of the torch of peace were warmly welcomed in Muramvya (center-west), in the evening of November 19 from Mwaro province, the torch of peace illuminated, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the paving work of classrooms under construction in the new districts of Muramvya and Kiganda, a check by ABP revealed.
In his welcome speech, the governor of Muramvya province, Euphreim Ndikumasabo, pointed out that peace and security are in good shape and that people go about their daily family development work. In his speech, Epipode Baranyikwa, the leader of the peace torchbearers commonly called intwararumuri, announced that he was the bearer of two messages from the Head of State to the people of Muramvya. On the one hand, it is a question of calling on them to strengthen and safeguard unity within the new districts formed.
The new districts are called upon to organize themselves for the pooling of the so-called district community development plans (PCDC).
The second message from the Head of State, according to Baranyikwa, is to mobilize the people of voting age, who have registered to vote in 2025, to do so in favor of the future leaders of a developed Burundi.
Among the personalities who participated in the work illuminated by the torch of peace in Muramvya province, are the 2nd deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Abel Gashatsi, Senator Imelde Ntibagirirwa elected in Muramvya and the five district administrators of Muramvya province.
For his part, Gashatsi, a native of Muramvya, said that the torch of peace comes to illuminate integral development, help fight against laziness and other bad habits. Gashatsi took the opportunity to call on the population of Muramvya to recognize that the torch of peace only aims to strengthen social unity, which is in the message delivered by the leader of the bearers of the torch of peace, on behalf of the head of state. He asked the entire population to rise up as one man, and with energy, to fight any attempt to divide them as part of slowing down the vision of Burundi. Gashatsi pointed out that if there is no combination of efforts, it will not be possible to achieve the goals of the vision of “Burundi, emerging country by 2040 and developed country in 2060”.
At a time when the torch of peace illuminated the pavement inside the Giko basic school under construction, Gashatsi called on the young people, who will study in that school institution, to consider it as their cradle that will help them prepare for a better future.
Note that the deputy speaker of the National Assembly reminded all those who have registered to respond to the 2025 elections, to prepare calmly for this great event, in order to be able to elect good leaders, who will give their all in the implementation of the national vision.
