BURUNGA/RUTANA, July 8 (ABP) – The CNDD-FDD party’s zonal representation launched community projects on Saturday, July 5, 2025, on Kayove hill, in Rutana commune, in the new Burunga province. The activity consisted of filling bags with earth to hold avocado pits, in order to promote avocado cultivation in the region, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The party’s zonal secretary, Audace Havyarimana, emphasized the nutritional and economic importance of that fruit. He recalled that avocados, as a cash crop, can generate income for households and thus contribute to the fight against poverty, in line with the presidential vision of an emerging Burundi by 2040. Havyarimana announced that these community activities will now be held twice a week: every Thursday at 3 p.m. and Saturday morning.
He invited the population to begin collecting avocado kernels immediately to avoid the delays observed last year, while calling for a strong mobilization to support local development.
