Chinese experts contribute to local agricultural development and reducing hunger in Burundi. “Yeah, I must take this opportunity to thank the government of China through for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affair. First, towards the good occasion to build the capacity now that we have many cooperatives, we have got some equipment, tractor, and other machine to make, for example, food for animals. We are also working on the fishery. We see that in the future, we will be able to export,” said Hon. Ir Prosper Dodiko, Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock of Burundi.
Denmark and China share more potential for agricultural cooperation. “We have the 75th anniversary between the People’s Republic of China and Denmark. We’ve had a long tradition of cooperation, especially in when we entered this century, we enhanced our cooperation, and we now have a green joint work program from 20, 23 that focuses this corporation, and one of them is the food and agricultural sector. Denmark has always been a huge pig producer. We have many more pigs than people in my country. We have a lot of experience and knowledge we can share. China is quite advanced as an agricultural country, but still we can always improve, as was said at the conference. The aim is to go from a loss of 8 % of everything produced to 3 %, and we should go all the way down to probably 1 %,” said Michael Starbæk Christensen, Ambassador of Denmark to China and Mongolia.
