GITEGA, September 20th (ABP) – The Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, held a moralising session on Tuesday 17 September 2024 at the provincial headquarters of Gitega, for senior executives and state officials from the provinces of Gitega, Karusi, Muramvya and Mwaro, which make up the new province of Gitega. The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, also took part in the meeting, which took place at the Gitega Polytechnic University (UPG), a check on the site by ABP has disclosed.
President Ndayishimiye indicated that the aim of that moralising session was to exchange views with those leaders on the various aspects of the country’s development. Moreover, he pointed out that he would be holding that moralising session in all the country’s provinces in order to encourage executives and senior managers to change their mentality and become good leaders.
The President of the Republic commended the fact that the problem of fuel shortages had been brought under control, although he deplored the case of transporters who wanted to continue to speculate by revising their prices.
‘Burundi will never achieve sustainable development as long as there are Burundians destabilising the country by sabotaging the government’s efforts to ensure the country’s economic stability’, said President Ndayishimiye.
He did not forget to urge those executives to contribute to raising public awareness of environmental protection by tracing contour lines and setting up catch basins in their respective plots, because, he added, the country is always threatened by climatic hazards.
