RUTANA, January 31st (ABP) – Teachers are being urged to prepare for their retirement by doing development work at home, in addition to their teaching duties. That appeal was made by the provincial director of education in Rutana province, Emmanuel Nsengiyumva, on Friday 24 January 2025, during the celebration of International Teachers’ Day in Rutana province, a day that is celebrated on 5 October each year.

During his speech at the ceremonies, which took place in the main town of Musongati commune, Eloge Hatungimana, the representative of the coalition of teachers’ unions for national solidarity (COSESONA) in Rutana province, praised the government’s initiatives to encourage teachers in their work, citing the example of a project implemented by the government to harmonise the salaries of civil servants.

Hatungimana thanked the government for its plan to redeploy teachers to workplaces close to their families, deploring the fact that a large number of teachers had not yet benefited from that plan. He called on those responsible for its implementation to ensure that all the teachers concerned are able to benefit.

Emmanuel Nsengiyumva, Director of Education in Rutana province, appealed to teachers to prepare for their retirement by doing development work at home, in addition to their teaching. He also appealed to pupils to study to the end for a better future.
