NYABIHANGA, August 19 (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, told the press on Saturday, August 16, 2025, that the Socle du Savoir school located on Matongo village in Nyabihanga commune, Gitega province, is ready to welcome its first boarding students for the 2025-2026 school year starting in September.
The First Lady, who initiated this project through the Bonne Action Umugiraneza Foundation to promote the Burundian education system, noted that the school will host more than 400 boarding students and aims to provide them with quality education and appropriate support in order to train graduates capable of leading the country towards the 2040-2060 vision.
She further indicated that the dormitories are already ready, with each room containing four bunk beds with new mattresses. “The kitchens and dining hall have also been arranged. The students will receive a good education and will be well fed and housed in dignified conditions,” she added.
First Lady Ndayishimiye also mentioned that the school will welcome children from vulnerable families with support from the Bonne Action Umugiraneza Foundation to promote social inclusion. She finally stated that she will never be discouraged by criticism circulating on social media, considering that she is working for the future of the country, particularly by promoting quality education which is a cornerstone of Burundi’s development. She also said that the Socle du Savoir school aims to be an educational model.
The school’s director, Subhana Ndenzako, explained that each class should not exceed 30 students to offer better learning conditions.
It should be noted that the Socle du Savoir school will open its secondary level with three tracks: Math-Statistics, Biochemistry and Earth Sciences, and Economics.
