BUJUMBURA, October 4th (ABP) – Owners of plots in Buterere County are called to register them in the district, said the administrator of Ntahangwa Distric, Mr. Ernest Niyonzima, during a visit he made to Buterere County on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
According to him, the meeting aimed to discuss the problems that those residents encounter, particularly land problems, and to find solutions.
Concerning the socio-security situation, Mr. Niyonzima is pleased that peace and security are guaranteed in that County.
In terms of health, he called on the population to respect the barrier measures to combat the various diseases that threaten their lives, including Monkeypox “MPOX”.
Regarding development, Mr. Niyonzima praised the efforts made by the people from that county to develop. He called on them, however, to keep an eye on the wealth of the country, in particular, on taxes and royalties. “Money should not remain in the pockets of a few,” he said, but should be at the disposal of community interests for sustainable development.
He indicated that many cases of fraud are recorded in this area, in particular sugar fraud, where they caught a shopkeeper who kept tons of sugar in a flour package in order to sell it secretly.
To that end, he called on the people to combat this bad practice to boost the development of the county.
To that end, he revealed that by the year 2025, there will be a district civil service where each district will be entirely independent. To that end, he called on residents to combine efforts for the well-being of the municipality. Regarding land issues where the population of Buterere County, especially Mugaruro village and part of Rusabagi in Mubone village, consider fields as plots, the administrator advised them to differentiate between fields and plots, calling on those who have started sharing plots for sale to stop while waiting for urbanization. To protect their plots, the administrator asked them to register their plots in the district not only for their self-development but also for their delimitation in order to pay land tax.
