December 26th (AMSP/CGTN) – – The United States Department of Defense last week released the 2024 edition of the China Military Power Report which says the Chinese mainland is employing a range of pressure tactics against Taiwan and the island is developing asymmetric concepts and capabilities to deter the Mainland.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on the mainland slammed the report saying this is to deliberately incite hostility between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
The Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, pointed out that the so-called ‘report’ issued by the US side deliberately incites hostility and confrontation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, encourages Taiwan to purchase weapons to prepare for war, grossly interferes in China’s internal affairs, and seriously violates the provisions of the three China-US Joint Communiques.
“We express strong dissatisfaction with it and firmly oppose it. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a part of China,” Chen Binhua underscored, urging the US side to abide by the One-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiques, stop hyping up Taiwan-related issues and stop sending wrong signals to separatists in Taiwan.
“We warn the Democratic Progressive Party authorities that “relying on US and arms purchase to seek independence” has no way out. No one and no force should underestimate or misjudge our strong resolve, firm will and strong ability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council added.
