Global Video Media Forum opens in SE China’s Quanzhou

December 4th (AMSP/CGTN) – – The 12th Global Video Media Forum opened on Tuesday in Quanzhou City, southeast China’s Fujian Province.

Nearly 200 representatives from 87 media organizations in over 60 countries and regions around the world gathered to discuss video media’s role in cultural exchanges and the applications of AI in video media production.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group (CMG), emphasized the role of media in connecting different cultures and peoples and documenting stories of exchange.

Shen said that CMG is willing to serve as a bridge for exchanges, cooperation and common prosperity, taking advantage of its strength in technologies and communications as an international and new top-class mainstream media organization.

Supported by new technologies, CMG aims to build a platform for cultural and people-to-people exchanges to promote mutual learning between different civilizations around the world, he said.

Topics on the forum’s agenda include poverty reduction, agricultural modernization, green initiatives and sustainability, among others.

The Global South Media Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism and a joint initiative related to the mechanism were also launched at the forum’s opening ceremony to promote media exchanges among developing countries.

Representatives from six media associations also had discussions at the forum, including the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the African Union of Broadcasting, the Latin American Union of News Agencies, the European News Exchange, and the Pacific Islands News Association.
