MURAMVYA, October 30th (ABP) – The chairperson and general director of the NCDP cooperative, Alphonse Nahimana currently residing in Canada, inaugurated last weekend a new storey infrastructure that will serve as offices and the headquarters of a microfinance in his native Masango village, Muramvya district and province (central-west), a check by ABP revealed.
People from that locality and its surroundings commend all the development initiatives of the Burundian, member of the diaspora living in Canada.
Mr. Nahimana has been distributing selected maize and bean seeds for years and giving domestic animals as part of a solidarity chain. Among other achievements of that native is the regeneration of banana trees to replace those that are aging. “This programme will also soon be started in 11 other provinces by other members of the diaspora who will follow in my footsteps,” he said.
In a speech delivered on the occasion of the inauguration of his cooperative, he asked the population of Masango to congratulate themselves for having worked until the inception of other NCDP cooperatives at the national and international levels.
He nevertheless called on those who benefit from the selected seeds, regenerated banana plants and bio-organic manure to serve as an example by setting up model fields that will be visited by members of other agricultural cooperatives.
