Serbian Deputy Prime Minister: China offers concrete solutions to global peace, development and hope for a fairer world

October 25th (AMSP/CGTN) – – ” China offers concrete solutions to global peace, development and hope for a fairer world. ” These are the words of the deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, who led his country’s delegation to the first-ever BRICS Plus summit in Russia this week.

Serbia, still in the process of joining the European Union, sees the group of developing nations as an important alternative for global governance. CGTN’s Huang Fei asked the Serbian leader about his thoughts on China’s influence on BRICS.

According to the deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, BRICS is hope. ” We see how determined Russia, how determined China is for creation of a new world, a free world, fair world without arrogance of great power. China, one of the most important countries in the world, speaks so calmly and gives us courage that all this hard time will pass, ” he pointed out.

He stressed that China offers to the entire world peace, development, fair trade, and the reconstruction of international order. ” And President Xi Jinping offers that hope and very constructive suggestions, very understandable, and possible to do, ” he added.

As one of the main criticisms about BRICS is that it’s just a talking club…it’s getting so big, that it’s almost impossible to reach any real consensus, let alone act on them, Serbian deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin expressed his thoughts.

” I don’t expect that BRICS will expand on all countries that want to be part of the BRICS, because BRICS is not talking club. When you have a New Development Bank with that kind of capital, it’s not just talking. It’s something that can be a real alternative to the International Monetary Fund. And in that kind of political climate, there is space for Serbia and space for Serbian economy: new railroads, new Chinese investments in Serbia, in Serbian mining companies, in Serbian industries. That’s really important for us. No one from BRICS asks us for anything – they just offer. And we are very grateful for that chance, ” Aleksandar Vulin  told CGTN.
