BEIJING, January 15th (AMSP/CGTN) – – Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday.
President Xi said China and Sri Lanka share a traditional friendship and should work to build a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future.
China will continue to support Sri Lanka in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
China will also support Sri Lanka’s economic development, and promote cooperation in agriculture, the digital economy, marine economy, and other areas.
President Dissanayake said Sri Lanka values its relationship with China and firmly adheres to the One-China principle.
Sri Lanka is committed to enhancing regional connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative. It welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and engage in Sri Lanka.
It seeks to strengthen cooperation with China in several areas, including infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and finance.
After the talks, the two heads of state oversaw the signing of several cooperation documents, as well as agreements on agricultural product exports to China, social welfare, broadcasting and the media.
