RUMONGE, December 31st (ABP) – The Rumonge commune has carried out projects in various sectors of life in the commune, according to a meeting held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, organized by the commune administration in Rumonge for administrators and heads of deconcentrated services, to present the half-yearly achievements.

According to Rumonge commune administrator Augustin Minani, the education sector was a priority. He indicated that meetings of the various stakeholders in the sector had been organized to study the challenges facing the sector and the solutions to be found. The major challenge identified, Minani specified, preventing pupils from achieving good results, especially in national tests and competitions, is linked to the overcrowding of classrooms and the lack of benches and desks.

The administration of the Rumonge commune has therefore taken that issue in hand, since a number of classrooms have been built on various schools, as Mr. Minani pointed out, noting that the manufacture of desk benches is also underway. In the field of infrastructure, the commune, in collaboration with the HWV Kigutu center, is currently rehabilitating the Buzimba-Kigutu road, passing through the thermal waters site on the Mugara hill.  The redevelopment and extension of the Mugara hot springs site are also among the major projects undertaken by the Rumonge commune. Visits outside the country were also made in the context of good neighborliness. The Rumonge commune administrator pointed out that a recent meeting between Burundian and Tanzanian officials in Kigoma, United Republic of Tanzania, revealed that some Rumonge commune nationals live and work in Kigoma without any authorization documents.

View of the participants

The administration of the Rumonge commune invites the latter to get together and send in their identifications so that they can be supported by the commune to obtain the necessary documents. Those who are thinking of going elsewhere in search of life are urged to obtain all official documents before setting off.

During the same meeting, the participants agreed to prepare bilateral conventions and meetings with a view to establishing measures to further facilitate the entry and exit of people from both countries. Participants at the meeting praised the administration’s courage in reforming several sectors of communal life. Some of them also saw the need for measures to facilitate outward travel between Rumonge province and localities in DR Congo bordering Burundi. It should be noted that the Rumonge commune administration has also completed projects in the environment, agriculture and livestock sectors.
