FUJIAN, September 16th (AMSP/CGTN) – In the city of Fuzhou in southeast China’s Fujian Province, people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait joined in a gala event on Thursday, September 12th in the framework of the Mid-autumn Festival and shared their feelings on ties between both sides.

Joining this gala event in Fuzhou as part of the Mid-autumn Festival were people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. They came from near and faraway places in the country to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival. Watching the shows, seeing the festival lanterns, they were excited and happy, a check by CGTN revealed.

“The interaction between the two sides, and the feelings shared by the people of both sides, as you can see, are from the bottom of the heart. It feels very good,” Andrew Hsia, Vice chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang told CGTN reporter Zheng Yibing.

Reporter Zheng Yibing met some cross-Strait married couples who shared their thoughts. “Our shared feelings can be seen everywhere. And both sides are indeed a family,” said Steven Chen, a Taiwan businessman. “We have been married for 24 years and enjoy a very good life. Our children also went to college on the mainland. We are thankful for everything,” Zheng Ruying, wife of Steven Chen pointed out.

Younger generations see more opportunities in the mainland – now that the integrated development project has been implemented in Fujian Province for a year. “We have the same roots. People in Taiwan can come to the mainland, and vice versa. There are no differences between us,” Chiu Pin-Ping, a cultural and creative designer from Taiwan told reporter Zheng.

“I hope that after leaving here, we can tell more people in Taiwan and the mainland that more communication and cooperation is good for us all,” Chen Siqi, teacher at Fuzhou University of Int’l Studies, Trade, underscored.

The participants said that the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and proves they belong to one and the same family.
