BUJUMBURA, 6th September (ABP) – Some 200 vulnerable children in the Kinama zone, in Bujumbura received on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, school materials for the 2024-2025 school year, donated by a Burundian artist known as Queen Gaga.

According to that artist, that gesture was made in order to support the government of Burundi, in its policy of free education in primary school, but also to support the campaign “The path to school for the child”.  It is also an opportunity to raise awareness among Burundians that a child is the future of the country when he or she is well raised with the necessary discipline and knowledge, she said.

“This is why we must come together to support all Burundian children if we want to achieve the vision of Burundi, an emerging country in 2040 and developed in 2060.”

With the support of her artist partners, she pointed out that this assistance activity will continue every year in favor of the most vulnerable orphans because, she said, every child has the right to education regardless of circumstances.

In addition, each child who receives school materials is offered the New Testament to know the word of God in addition to school education.

Reine Gaga, living in Sweden, has asked the government of Burundi, through the Ministry of National Education, to support Burundian artists who have the desire to help vulnerable children.

She asked parents to follow up so that this school material is well used.

A parent present at the handover ceremonies welcomed that gesture which comes at the right time according to him, because in previous years, some children abandoned their studies because of the lack of school materials.  According to him, this year, poor children will study quietly thanks to that assistance. She thanked those Burundian artists for their support.
