KIRUNDO, January 16th (ABP) – The national association for the support of HIV-positive people and AIDS patients (ANSS), Kirundo branch (north), indicates that the active file of people living with HIV/AIDS, supported by the association, is made of 1238 people.
Among these, children aged between 0 and 24 are 106, and are also supported by the ANSS, which provides them with antiretrovirals (ARVs).
According to the organization, the cause of the active file, which is no less, is due to the lack of intense awareness-raising on the fight against AIDS. ANSS asks the government and other partners to take this concern into consideration and to intensify awareness sessions, in order to deal with this virus which is among the factors that hinder the development of the country.
Even if this is the case, there is no shortage of ARVs, they are still available for HIV-positive people, specified the employees of the ANSS, Kirundo branch and HIV-positive people. This information was provided during the celebration of the Christmas and New Year, in favor of HIV-positive children aged 6 to 14, a celebration that was financed by the company “Interpetrol”, partner of the ANSS and the ANSS itself.
