GITEGA, Dec. 26th (ABP) – An organization called Niragira Community Development Project (NCDP), under the authority of some members of the Burundian diaspora, has recently granted two cows and a calf to the vulnerable from Rwintamba village, Gishubi district in Gitega province (central part of the country).

Godeberthe Ndarubagiye from that district represents NCDP in the above-mentioned province. As a check by ABP telephoned her, she indicated that those donations are in line with the wishes of the 2024 end-of-year celebrations to the beneficiaries. “We wanted them to celebrate these events in joy,” she argued, before adding that NCDP wanted to give them hope for a good life like so many others. Ndarubagiye specified that people from other villages who want a cow will also be able to benefit from it as part of a community solidarity chain designed for this purpose.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Jean Bosco Sindaye thanked the NCDP representative in Gitega for her generosity to the needy. “She is far from her village, but her heart has remained with her native country,” he said.

Speaking on the expected benefits from those cows, Jean Bosco Sindaye indicated that they will contribute substantially to improving the diet of the beneficiaries in general, and that of young children, in particular. Then, he added, these cows will contribute to increasing agricultural production by fertilizing arable land, thanks to organic manure.

Finally, the sale of cows or their products will lead to an improvement in the standard of living, and therefore, an increase in social consideration.

He further expressed his gratitude to Godeberthe Ndarubagiye and wished her to move forward.

In addition, NCDP has already carried out other activities in Gitega. These include the Internet tool recently available in the premises of the Nyabiraba parish to serve particularly the student community of the locality and surroundings as well as agricultural projects.

The NCDP aims to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the population, as advocated by the vision of the Burundian government: an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country in 2060, said Godeberthe Ndarubagiye.
