Mukaza, August 19 (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Évariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Kiriri presidential palace, a delegation from the Qatari royal family led by Sheikh Mansour bin Jaboor bin Jassim Al Thani, the main leader of Al Mansour Holding Group, a Qatari company with diversified investments in several countries, an onsite check by ABP has revealed.

According to Ms. Rosine Guilène Gatoni, spokesperson for the Burundian president, this delegation came to demonstrate the commitment of the State of Qatar, and particularly the King of Qatar, to support Burundi in its path towards emergence. This visit follows the call made by the Burundian Head of State in December 2024, during the roundtable of development partners and private investors, where he invited all interested partners to accompany Burundi in its 2040-2060 vision.

During the discussions, President Ndayishimiye presented Burundi’s strengths, notably peace, security, institutional stability, as well as progress in governance and democracy, essential elements for the country’s sustainable development, Ms. Gatoni specified.

She also indicated that through Al Mansour Holding Group, Qatar plans to invest in Burundi in several strategic sectors, including agriculture, tourism, mining, financial services, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and telecommunications.

The ministers in charge of these sectors were mandated to ensure the follow-up of project agreements to be signed during this visit, which marks an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Burundi and Qatar.

Note that Burundi is the first stop on the African tour of this Qatari delegation.
