BUJUMBURA, November 14th (ABP) – The head of Lumicash service in the company Vietel, Melissa Ishimwe animated Thursday, November 7, 2024, a press conference to ask super agents and agents working in the Lumicash service to respect the standards of new Lumicash policy.
She recalled that in 2017, Vietel’s lumicash service signed contracts with super agents and agents. The aim was for the latter to be able to transfer money electronically between themselves or between their agents free of charge, but, currently with that new policy, the lumicash service has developed partner banks so that they withdraw the electronics in those partner banks and share them with their agents free of charge. But, Lumicash found that they were making those transfers for their own interests.
From now on, says the Lumicash director, for agents and super-agents who want to transfer money between themselves, the lumicash service will tax those services, as will private individuals who use those services.
Furthermore, electronic or cash money transactions with super-agents between themselves and agents between themselves are cancelled with that new policy.
She called on their super-agents and agents to respect the standards of that new policy, while reminding them of the three places available for withdrawing electronic cash: Viettel’s head office, lumicash service offices and partner banks.
The new policy comes into force on November 2, 2024.
