BUJUMBURA, July 8 (ABP) – Serges Ntakavura, chair of the Burundian Volleyball Federation (FBVB), hosted a press conference on Sunday, July 6, 2025, to officially launch the media campaign for the international “World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour” tournament, which will be held in Bujumbura from August 20 to 24, 2025.

Mr. Ntakavura told the press that this beach volleyball tournament will held in Bujumbura for the third time. In that regard, he called on volleyball fans and other Burundians to attend the tournament in large numbers and support the Burundian teams that will be participating. He informed that three teams, on the men’s side and three teams on the women’s side will compete against the international teams that will be present.

Regarding the level of preparation of the Burundian teams, the chairman of the FBVB noted that the Burundian teams are well-trained to face experienced international teams, having just participated in the African Beach Volleyball Championship from June 23 to 30, 2025, in Martil, Morocco.

Regarding logistics, Mr. Ntakavura stated that the FBVB is working with the Ministry responsible for Sports to “put in place all the necessary resources.”

As for the countries that will participate in that international tournament, he pointed out that 15 countries have already registered as participants on the International Beach Volleyball Federation platform. Mr. Ntakavura also indicated that this number could be revised upwards because, according to him, some countries have asked the FBVB how to register to participate in the tournament. “You know that on July 7, 2025, volleyball celebrated its world day for the first time, on an initiative of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The objective pursued this year by the FIVB is to bring the planet together around the founding values ​​of this universal sport: inclusion, passion, solidarity and sharing,” he mentioned.
