BUBANZA, November 15th (ABP) – The week dedicated to the fighters was opened on Thursday 14 November 2024, in the commune of Mpanda (north-west Burundi), on Gifurwe village, where some of the missing victims of the crisis endured by Burundi are buried.
The festivities were attended by the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, according to local sources.
In his speech, he called for people to remember what caused the crisis, to safeguard peace and security, and to strengthen patriotism. He invited Burundians to take advantage of the new-found peace to devote themselves to the development of their households in particular and the country in general, towards the fight against poverty and the achievement of the vision of Burundi as an emerging country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060. President Ndayishimiye asked them to pray for those who died on the battlefield, and to always be ready to sacrifice themselves for the well-being of their peers and their country. He promised to help build the Muzinda church.
