BUJUMBURA, November 15th (ABP) – The Cabinet met on Wednesday November 13, 2024 in Bujumbura, under the aegis of the President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye, according to the communiqué issued by the Secretary General of the State.

According to the communiqué, the Cabinet analyzed the sectoral policy and strategy document of the Ministry in charge of Finance; the sectoral policy and strategy document of the Ministry in charge of the Interior. In addition, the council analyzed several bills. Those included a bill amending law no. 1/09 of November 13, 2020 on the general organization of public administration.

According to the press release, the Cabinet also analyzed the draft decree on the creation, organization, missions and operation of Burundi’s radiation protection and nuclear safety authority. The draft decree on the creation, organization, missions and functioning of the Burundi National Youth Forum and the draft decree on the creation, composition, missions, organization and functioning of the National Steering Committee for the digitization of public services were also analyzed by the Cabinet meeting.

Another bill was analyzed. It concerns the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the general cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Zambia and the Government of the Republic of Burundi, signed in Lusaka on June 14, 2024. The draft law on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports between the Government of the Republic of Zambia and the Government of the Republic of Burundi, signed in Lusaka on June 14, 2024 has been submitted for analysis.

Lastly, the Cabinet analyzed the draft law on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft (1970 Hague Convention), according to the press release.
