BEIJING, February 26th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China’s marine economy achieved a significant milestone in 2024, with its gross ocean product (GOP) exceeding 10 trillion yuan for the first time, according to a report released by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources on Monday.
Notably, the service sector was the largest contributor to the marine economy in 2024, contributing 59.6 percent of the total GOP.
Marine manufacturing also served as a key driver of economic growth, with the added value of the sector accounting for more than 30 percent of the total GOP.
Offshore wind power entered a new phase of scaled development, as annual power generation grew by nearly 30 percent year on year.
The marine engineering equipment manufacturing sector continued to recover, maintaining the top global market share for seven consecutive years.
