Meeting between the women’s leagues of the ruling parties in Burundi and Tanzania

MAKAMBA, March 10th (ABP) – The leaders of Bakenyererarugamba in Burunga province and those of Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania (UWT) in the Kigoma region of Tanzania met in Nyanza-Lac to analyze the socio-political and economic situation of women, a check by ABP revealed. The secretary of Bakenyererarugamba in Burunga, Revocate Nibigira, indicated that the situation of women has improved in Burundi with the CNDD-FDD in power.

During her presentation, the provincial president of the National Women’s Forum in Makamba, Concesse Niyonsaba, asked women leaders to master time management, because they are called upon to participate in political and public activities as well as in family activities. Makamba Governor Tantine Ncutinamagara expressed satisfaction that the Burundi government has initiated banks dedicated to women and youth. This allows women to access loans without much requirement.

UWT Secretary in Kigoma, Sarah Kahilanya, indicated that a woman who gets elected should not underestimate herself. She advised women not to lose hope and to get elected, whenever necessary, in the various leading bodies of the country.
