January 15th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China’s valid domestic invention patents reached 4.756 million by the end of 2024, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) said on Wednesday, making it the first country in the world to hold over 4 million valid domestic invention patents.
In 2024 alone, over 1 million invention patents were authorized, up 13.5% year-on-year, while about 75,000 international patent applications were filed via the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Meanwhile, more than 4.78 million trademarks were registered in 2024, marking a 9.1% growth on a yearly basis.
Looking forward, Hu Wenhui, deputy head of the CNIPA, said the administration would put quality first and promote the efficient use of intellectual property rights, while strengthening related protection with high standards in 2025.
