Novemver 12th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China and Indonesia have pledged to advance their comprehensive strategic partnership and build a community with a shared future.
The two sides reached the agreement in talks between President Xi Jinping and his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto on Saturday. Prabowo is in China for a state visit.
President Xi Jinping welcomed Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto with a 21-gun salute during a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People on Saturday.
Prabowo and Xi reviewed the guard of honor of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. It’s Prabowo’s first overseas visit since taking office.
During their talks, President Xi noted China and Indonesia are major developing countries, emerging markets, and members of the Global South. He expressed China’s willingness to work with Indonesia in building a shared future and boosting win-win cooperation in the Global South.
The two leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in the “five pillars” of China-Indonesia ties: politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchange, maritime affairs and security.
They also committed to working together on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, such as the efficient operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor.
President Xi said China is keen to strengthen multilateral strategic coordination with Indonesia. He reiterated China’s commitment to a more multipolar and inclusive global order.
President Prabowo said Indonesia hopes to further strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
He also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to independence and non-alignment.
Following the talks, the two sides released a joint statement on advancing their comprehensive strategic partnership and building a shared future.
Several bilateral agreements to develop the blue economy, water resources, and mineral cooperation were also signed.
