MUKAZA, August 13 (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, presented to the public on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Intwari Stadium, the new governor of Bujumbura province, Mr. Aloys Ndayikengurukiye, and the new administrator of Mukaza Commune, Mrs. Aline Bigirimana.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of religious denominations, public and private institutions, as well as the population of the province, an onsite check by ABP has revealed.
In his address aimed at moralisation, the Head of State emphasized that Burundi currently needs competent and visionary leaders who can awaken the people through their actions. He stressed that a good leader is one who listens to citizens’ concerns and is capable of addressing them. According to President Ndayishimiye, a good leader must lead by example so that those under their leadership can follow suit.
The President of the Republic stated that an ineffective governor cannot successfully fulfill their duties for long. For this reason, he encouraged the governor of Bujumbura province to work closely with the population and raise awareness among citizens about the harmful effects of drug use. He also called on him to fight against injustice, disorder, fraud, and corruption in order to build a prosperous Burundi.
The President further instructed him to plan visits to the 11 communes of the, in order to stay in touch with the population and effectively supervise administrative actions.

The Burundi number one leader reminded the audience that the governor must safeguard the interests of the state and do everything possible to ensure the well-being of the people, given that he is the representative of the Head of State in the province.
President Ndayishimiye also urged both the governor of Bujumbura province and the administrator of Mukaza commune to work diligently and collaborate with the population, security officials, and local administrators so that development can be achieved collectively.
Based on all of the above, the Head of State called on all Burundians to practice personal hygiene, respect their leaders, and take ownership of income-generating activities such as agriculture and livestock. He also issued a call to combat delinquency, laziness, all forms of drug use, and absenteeism, in order to jointly implement the Vision 2040-2060.
In their remarks, the two new officials pledged to strictly follow all directives given by the Burundian Head of State and to assist citizens in finding solutions when they voice concerns.
