KAYANZA, January 21st (ABP) – At a time when some traders operating at the central market of Kayanza are showcasing reluctance to pay fees for the sentinels who stand guard at night, the communal administrator of Kayanza, Godefroid Niyonizigiye, warned that such traders will have their shops closed and that the latter will be reopened after the payment of a fine. He made this appeal last Thursday, January 16th during a meeting he organized for them to raise awareness about their obligations for the smooth running of their commercial activities.

During the meeting, the provincial representative of Kayanza traders, Mr. Sylvestre Nduwimana also known as Pongo, as well as the communal administrator of Kayanza, said they were bothered by the fact that some traders are content that their goods are protected, but do not pay the fees intended for night watchmen.

On the same occasion, traders were called upon to have the tax registration number (NIF), the trade register and the invoice without ignoring to pay taxes and duties in real time.

For his part, the provincial head of internal taxes within the Burundi Revenue Authority, Astère Bimenyimana, urged traders operating at the aforementioned market to comply with tax laws by properly paying the rental fees for shops and those for quarterly declarations.
