BUJUMBURA, June 11 (ABP) – The Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party praised the democratic maturity of Burundians following the double election held on June 5. He made this statement during a press conference held for national and international journalists at the party’s headquarters in Ngagara.

During this press briefing, Révérien Ndikuriyo first thanked the Almighty for the atmosphere, security, and serenity that characterized the entire electoral period.

He expressed gratitude to the Bagumyabanga (party members) for their massive turnout, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), as well as its partners. He added that, based on the reports from CNDD-FDD party representatives deployed across all polling centers in the country, he has no doubt that his party will win the elections. “I’m just not sure what percentage we will win by, let’s wait for the verdict from CENI,” he emphasized.

The Secretary General of CNDD-FDD also congratulated both national and international media for their work in covering the elections, stating that their professionalism demonstrates how Burundi is establishing democracy.

Regarding the allegations observed here and there, Révérien Ndikuriyo noted that such situations are normal, as Burundi is not a paradise, isolated incidents are inevitable. He recommended that those responsible for any irregularities be identified and punished according to the law.

In response to concerns from some political party leaders who pointed out certain irregularities contrary to the electoral law, he advised them to submit their complaints to the CENI.
