MUYINGA, 27 Feb (ABP) – Farmers are being called upon to produce local natural organic manure and to share the small quantity obtained during this period of shortage of chemical fertilisers, particularly Fomi Imbura fertiliser, said the Gasorwe municipal agronomist, Mr Sindayigaya Léonidas, in an interview with ABP on Monday 24 February 2025 at the Gasorwe municipal capital, the day after the fertiliser distribution activity.
Mr Sindayigaya pointed out that a number of farmers had complained that they had not received enough fertiliser. These complaints are understandable in view of the shortage, as they are working hard during the B 2025 cropping season,” he said.
He pointed out that chemical fertiliser was available in limited quantities, and that an equitable sharing measure had been put in place to enable everyone to benefit from even one bag of fertiliser.
Mr. Sindayigaya pointed out that the farmers were registered on their respective villages to ensure proper distribution. They were also given advice on how to produce organic manure.
The farmers met on the spot said they were worried at a time when bags of FOMI fertiliser were being sold on the market at exorbitant prices. In response to these complaints, Mr Sindayigaya said that he would work with the authorities to launch an investigation into any illegal sellers of FOMI fertiliser, in order to put an end to this fraudulent practice.
