BUJUMBURA, February 27th (ABP) – The “Sanura Burundi” association, which is located in the Buyenzi zone of Bujumbura Mayorship, close to the Ntahangwa bridge, manufactures quality cement blocks, it was reported on site on Friday 21 February 2025.
According to the head of the association, Zacharie Habarugira, it began its activities in 2000 with ten people who joined forces to manufacture quality cement blocks in order to help the people find effective cement blocks for construction.
He pointed out that they used to have a lot of customers because a cement block cost 100 BIF, adding that it now costs 3000 BIF. That rise in price is due to the increase in the price of a bag of cement, which can now be bought for 65,000 BIF, whereas at the start it was bought for 15,000 BIF. The price of sand has also risen as a result of the fuel shortage.
According to him, only buyers with sufficient means manage to purchase their products. He added that cement blocks make it easier to build a house, as the work progresses very quickly.
