KIRUNDO, February 11th (ABP) – The office of the governor of Kirundo province (north) organized on Saturday, February 8, 2025, a festivity as part of exchange wishes for the year 2025 for the natives of the province. It was also an opportunity for self-assessment for achievements and the presentation of future prospects.
The governor of Kirundo province, Police Brigadier General Victor Segasago, indicated that family and land conflicts are a concern of the province. He had the opportunity to point the finger at the personnel of the justice system in the province, underscoring that they are, themselves, the source of those conflicts because, he insisted, they do not honor their commitments.
Concerning the agricultural sector, he said that the province has generally evolved. More than 2,500,000 avocado trees have been grown throughout the province, as well as about 7 million coffee trees. In addition, 800 kilometers of contour lines have been drawn.

In the same sector, the provincial governor indicated that the goal has been set to promote hill irrigation and swamp development, in order to face the challenge of water deficit that is often observed in some communes.
In terms of education, he mentioned the debt problem of the University of the Province; hence he invited the natives to lend a hand for that academic institution. The natives who were present thanked the provincial office for the significant progress in the various sectors.
The Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs and other native executives were present. The ceremonies began with a football match between the ASSOREKI-Intore team of military officers and police officers native to Kirundo and the Lac aux Oiseaux club.
There was also a competition among traditional dance groups. Awards were granted to the best teams and groups. They ended the day by sharing a drink.
