BUJUMBURA, October 31st (ABP) – Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye received in audience, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the Chairman and Managing Director of the COMESA Trade and Development Bank (TDB) Group, Mr. Admassu TADESSE.
At the end of the audience, the spokesperson for the President of the Republic, Mrs. Guilene Gatoni, said that the latter has visited Burundi as part of the activities of the 23rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of COMESA.
He presented to the Head of State the state of affairs of that bank. This is at a time when President Ndayishimiye is to take over the presidency of COMESA this year.
According to Mrs. Gatoni, this bank supports the initiatives of member states in the framework of trade and development. The two personalities discussed development opportunities in the sectors of agriculture, mining and tourism, which are at the center of the theme of that 23rd summit, and which are the key sectors towards the vision of Burundi, an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country in 2060.
She indicated that the Burundian Head of State congratulated the Director General of the TDB which has developed into six other institutions but also for its support for development. He reiterated his commitment to support that financial institution.
