RUMONGE, December 24th (ABP) – The Mutualité d’Epargne et de Crédit Itongo (MECI-Microfinance) which has its head office in Cabara village, Kigwena County, offered at least 200 school benches on Saturday, December 21, 2024, to the communal directorate of Education in Rumonge commune. According to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the microfinance, Mrs. Eliane Niyoyitungira, the gesture was made in order to respond to the call of the communal administration to support the education sector which is experiencing quite a few challenges.

The Director of the DCE Rumonge, Mrs. Bénigne Nitunze, thanked the administration of the Rumonge commune for its call to support the education sector. She also thanked MECI-Microfinance for being the first to respond to the call. She therefore pointed out that the entire commune lacks a total of 7,571 school benches, including 1,300 in the Kigwena County. Thus, she called on the students and principals of the schools that will benefit from the donation to maintain it well.

In his speech for the occasion, the administrator of the Rumonge commune, Augustin Minani, said that the education sector must be a priority and developed in order to support the government’s vision. He took the opportunity to invite others to follow in the footsteps of MECI-Microfinance to deal with all the challenges that prevent the success in the said sector.

Note that the participants in the event have personally committed each according to their ability, to provide the DCE Rumonge with school benches.
