CIBITOKE, September 23rd (ABP) – The Prime Minister of the Republic, Gervais Ndirakobuca, met on Friday, September 20, at the office of the governor of the Cibitoke province, the members of the provincial and district committees of general population census, controllers and supervisors.
According to the press and communication officer at the prime minister’s office, Festin Ntiyumvamabwire, the objective of that meeting was to analyze together, the progress of the main population census.
Thus, it was noted that the work is progressing very well and is reaching a satisfactory level, apart from certain enumeration areas, he revealed. These include the transit camp for Congolese refugees in Cishemere in Buganda District, which had been considered an ordinary household instead of a collective household, which was later corrected, according to the same official. The other case is that of the expanded district of Mugina, where in certain areas such as Miremera, Bwayi and Mwarangabo, hesitations to be counted, linked to the religious beliefs of some, were recorded at the start. That is the reason why it was recommended that the administrative officials carry out sustained awareness-raising, in order to convince them all to be counted.
He also reported the case of some census takers, who do not work on Sabbath days, which meant that they were on the 17th day of the census, while the others were on the 19th day. For the latter, the recommendation given was that they must be reinforced by their colleagues in advance, so that the census can be completed in accordance with the planned deadline, that is, Sunday, September 22, 2024.
It is worth noting that the toll-free number 175 has been given to all those who have not yet been counted.
