CICB contributes to peace-building

KIRUNDO, September 24th (ABP) – The Interfaith Council of Burundi “CICB” organized on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the new Butanyerera province, precisely at the headquarters of Kirundo province (northern Burundi), the ceremonies marking the World Day of Peace, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Those ceremonies were characterized by the presence of activists from different political parties with their flags, as well as administrative officials from Kayanza, Ngozi and Kirundo provinces.

The chief of staff in the office of the governor of Kirundo province, Eric Nduwayezu, commended that initiative of CICB to bring together activists from different political parties to demonstrate together that they are on the same path to consolidate peace with a view to achieving sustainable development.

Nduwayezu specified that those ceremonies took place at the right time because we are on the eve of the elections. He took the opportunity to ask the youth, activists of the different political parties to remain peaceful even during the elections.

For his part, the executive secretary of CICB, Pastor Louis Nizigiyimana, urged the members of the political parties to keep in their hearts that peace is the source of development, while inviting them to prepare for peaceful elections, without clashes between one and the other.

At the same time, the participants in the ceremonies cleaned up the Kirundo market, as part of the community development work, and the day’s ceremonies ended with the sharing of drinks.
