BEIJING, February 28th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China has unveiled this year’s “Number One Central Document”, outlining priorities for deepening rural reforms and advancing all-around rural vitalization.
The Document emphasizes five major tasks, including ensuring national food security, forestalling any large-scale relapse into poverty, improving development of rural industries, strengthening rural construction, and enhancing rural governance.
As the first policy statement released by China’s central authorities each year, the Document is seen as a key indicator of the government’s policy priorities. This year’s Document continues to priortize efforts to safeguard food security and the stable supply of key agricultural products.
And for the first time, the Document uses the term “new quality productive forces” in the agricultural sector, stressing the importance of promoting collaborative agricultural scientific and technological research.
Jin Wencheng, Director of the Research Center for Rural Economy under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said the concept of new quality productive forces in agriculture is all-encompassing, and includes technologies like biological breeding, drones, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.
