BRAZZAVILLE (TDI), January 9th (www.thediplomaticinsight.com) – – China and Congo have committed to establishing a model for an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a visit to Brazzaville, according to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wang made the remarks after meeting with the President of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso.
Emphasizing that China and Congo have reached a broad consensus on strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership and deepening China-Africa cooperation, Wang said that both countries agreed to continue solidifying their strong friendship and to stand firmly together on matters concerning each other’s core interests such as sovereignty, security and development.
Wang said that both countries also agreed to lead the way in fostering China-Africa friendship.
Following the important consensus reached by the state leaders, the two nations will expedite the development of a high-level China-Congo community with a shared future, setting an example for the all-weather China-Africa community with a common future for the new era, Wang added.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Co-chairing the forum, both sides will prioritize the “ten partnership action plans” and cooperate to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, as well as jointly set the “timetable” and “roadmap” for the forum’s development over the upcoming three years, said Wang.
Both sides agree to continue upholding global fairness and justice.
Wang said that China appreciates the unique role played by Congo in global affairs.
China is ready to closely collaborate with Congo to support Africa in achieving peace and stability, he added.
