HARBIN, February 6th (AMSP/CGTN) – – The opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games is just one day away. The Organizing Committee of the Games, together with the Olympic Council of Asia, spoke with the media earlier today in Harbin.
The spokesperson said some competitions are already underway, including ice hockey and curling, which began earlier this week. The first gold medal is set to be awarded on February 8th.
“The 9th Asian Winter Games have attracted over 1,200 athletes from 34 countries and regions, making it the largest edition yet in terms of participation. What’s even more exciting is the debut of athletes from Cambodia and Saudi Arabia, marking a step up in expanding the footprint of winter sports across Asia,” said Bai Zhiguo, Deputy Secretary General of the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 Organizing Committee.
