BEIJING, March 4th (AMSP/CGTN) – – The third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference began on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
China’s political calendar enters a critical phase as over 2,000 members of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference gathered in Beijing for their annual session.
President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting, where Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a work report on the committee’s achievements over the past year.
“We should implement the important arrangements of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on the development of consultative democracy… and the reform tasks set by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for improving the consultative democracy mechanism, promoting the construction of consultative democracy of the CPPCC, and guiding CPPCC members to consciously engage in and pool their efforts into consultation for decision making and consultative democracy for national governance at the frontline,” Wang Huning insisted.
CPPCC members who are AI scholars, agricultural scientists, economic advisors, and people from all walks of life converged to press queries on hot-button issues, with ‘innovation’ echoing through their answers. “China’s robotics industry has made significant progress, narrowing the gap to the international level. Notably, we have established a core technology base—a humanoid robot factory—that can rapidly develop low-cost, high-performance robotics systems to support the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors,” Qiao Hong, CPPCC Member and Director of State Key Laboratory of Multimodal AI Systems pointed out.
Having processed more than 5,000 proposals last year, the country’s top advisory body aims to channel public aspirations with policy blueprints – with advancing Chinese modernization, deepening reform, promoting high-quality development anchoring its roadmap.
