CANKUZO, November 28th (ABP) – The torch of peace illuminated on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, community development works including the maintenance of the Cankuzo-Gisagara road, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

After being welcomed on Monday by the governor of Cankuzo province, Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, along with other executives of the province and the population, the torch of peace illuminated, the next day, the paving works of the library of Mgr. Joachim Ruhuna high school in Muyaga, Cankuzo district and province.

Around 11 am, the torch of peace was warmly welcomed by the population of Gisagara district where it illuminated the work of filling potholes on the Cankuzo-Gisagara road, in before being handed over to Muyinga province.

The leader of the association of torchbearers (Intwararumuri), Mr. Epipode Baranyikwa, presented the message of the President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye, who calls on the population to prepare well for the next elections in 2025, but also calls for synergy with self-development work for the success of the vision of Burundi as an emerging country by 2040 and developed country in 2060.

During that day, the administrator of the Gisagara district, Mr. Gratien Nitunga, pointed out that the national road, RN21 (Cankuzo-Gisagara) is in poor condition, which blocks the population who wish to freely sell their agricultural products.

He pleaded for it to be paved, a grievance that Mr. Baranyikwa promised to submit to the President of the Republic.
