CIBITOKE, September 24 (ABP) – The phytosanitary pharmacies of the Cibitoke province that do not have managers with training as agronomists or veterinarians, or that do not respect the clauses of the meeting of July 30 with the management of the BPEAE of Cibitoke, will soon be closed. The statement is from Edymond Uwobikundiye responsible for training and production at the BPEAE of Cibitoke. It was on Monday, September 23, after a verification trip to the said pharmacies, to see if there has been a change in their way of working, more than a month after the meeting he held for them. Indeed, the clauses of the meeting called on the owners of those pharmacies to hire people trained in the matter, to better serve the people in need of phytosanitary products for their crops and livestock. For that person in authority, the managers of those pharmacies must have knowledge on the conservation, differentiation and maintenance of those products. “There must be someone who can supervise the producers, and give them advice,” he specified. During that inspection trip, Uwobikundiye noted that nothing had been changed: disorder in the storage of products, products placed near the iron sheets that could accumulate heat; the large packaging of those products was not visible near the products, to avoid suspicion and confusion. As for the owners of those pharmacies, they acknowledged that they did nothing, and promised to implement the instructions decided during the meeting with the BPAE, a month ago. However, they believe that hiring more equipped agronomists, as desired, is beyond their means, arguing that they are not able to pay them.

It should be noted that this type of supervision of phytosanitary pharmacists began with the Rugombo district, hosting a large number of them and will continue in all the districts of the province, Uwobikundiye revealed.
