CIBITOKE, December 16th (ABP) – A few months before the 2025 elections, the Minister of the Interior, Community Development, and Public Security, Martin Niteretse, made a working visit on Thursday, December 12, to the new districts of Mugina and Cibitoke, in Bujumbura province.

This was part of a moralization session for the administrative officials of those districts, representatives of the police, religious denominations, political parties and other leaders of Cibitoke province.

The Minister in charge of the Interior called on the population to continue to properly go about development activities. He specified that the elections should not distract them too much, as they span a short period of time. He called on everyone to engage in farming activities, which are, according to him, is a sure means to move towards development and align with the national vision 2040-2060.

For Minister Niteretse, Burundians have as capital a fertile and profitable land, which must be exploited. To achieve this, agriculture and livestock go hand in hand, while having a chicken coop, a pigsty or practicing rabbit farming can lead to the development of a household. He urges every citizen to have their own house, winking at civil servants, so that they leave houses for rent only to travelers or geographical singles. Regarding the discontent related to not being on the blocked lists, Minister Niteretse specified that not everyone should be on the blocked list, but that it is rather necessary to change mentality, because in 2025, more than 152 candidates will be voted on, including 100 deputies, 10 senators and 42 district administrators.

He took the opportunity to remind the leaders to properly carry out the missions entrusted to them, each in their own area. He stressed three priorities that should not be violated: the right of the citizen, the law, and national sovereignty.
